Twenty-seven year old St. Louis native, Leah Gullet, (formerly known as Simms) is the Founder/CEO of Unheard Expressions, LLC. She is a video producer with an emphasis in pre- and post-production, but still holds skills in field work, directing and cinematography.
Her journey in the world of media began as a teenager experimenting with a small camera and a basic non-linear editing program. At a young age with an expressive imagination, Leah wrote short stories. That passion was cultivated and she began writing scripts for plays.
Combining passion with skill, Leah signed up for a Video Production class in high school. She then attended Webster University in St. Louis, MO where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Video Production with a minor in Script writing. She graduated Cum Laude and was granted Departmental Honors from the Electronic and Photographic Media Department. She has received recognition for her work and many accomplishments. Some of her accomplishments include, producing two documentary films and writing two films entitled "Prisoner of the Mind" and "Charity." Her talent & skills were recognized with the production of the documentary – “The Colors of Crime – St. Louis Under-Siege” which was featured at Webster University’s Film Series, the Whitaker's St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase and Nine Network of Public Media (PBS). She also has appeared on HEC-TV to discuss her documentary.
Leah began her work professionally as a videographer in her church as a camera operator, director in live to record video production and editor. She has interned with STL-TV as a scriptwriter and production assistant for television and studio production. A couple of years later, she joined the NineLAB team at Nine Network of Public Media/KETC (the PBS affiliate in St. Louis), where she was responsible for teaching digital storytelling classes and producing documentary shorts. She then moved on to work for Fox 2 and CW 11 where she worked as a Broadcast Engineer and has even done some Multi Media Journalism producing and reporting community stories.
As a young business owner she continues to create Unheard Expressions original documentaries and films. Leah is currently a writer for an online magazine called The STL (theSTL.com).
